Marlene was interviewed on Kingfisher FM by Ethan Black on 6 June 2017. In the successful interview, Marlene discussed her upcoming exhibition at the PE Homemakers show and how she uses the medium of photography to connect to the world around her.
This June, Marlene Neumann will be exhibiting her photography at the Homemakers show in PE. This will be the first time the master fine art photographer will be displaying her work in Port Elizabeth. Having been a regular exhibitor at the Johannesburg Homemakers for over 10 years, Marlene is excited to break into the Garden route market and to be a part of the show. Of the upcoming show, Marlene Neumann said, “Its my first homemakers show in PE and I’m excited to meet the people of Port Elizabeth and looking forward to sharing my work with them”. You can attend the Homemakers show in PE at the Boardwalk from 22- 25 June.
Marlene Neumann has just launched her International Facebook page! Her agent in London will now be selling her work to the international market. Support Marlene by liking her International Facebook page, and by sharing it with your family and friends abroad.
Marlene hosted her 86th Weekend Workshop on Creative Photography last weekend and it was overwhelmingly successful. Everyone who attended felt more aware of their surroundings and awake by the end of the weekend. All except Tigger, the center guardian! The course is aimed at anyone who needs a shift in the way they think and feel about photography and about their lives. Contact Marlene directly for more information about upcoming courses.
Boxes and boxes of old press releases, articles and newspaper clippings have scattered the office floors over the past few days. Finding articles, scanning them in and digitizing over 32 years of work allows for moments of reflection and time to pause and see how much Marlene’s world has changed. For the next couple of weeks, Marlene will be posting Throwback Thursdays on Facebook to give you insight into her career and her many hairstyle changes! Find an article published in SA Photo in 2000 here! How times have changed!
Life often gets in the way of living, but for Marlene’s birthday this year she had a chance to experience life in a way that many of us don’t get a chance to witness. She celebrated her birthday in the township with the dogs due to be sterilised through her Buckaroo project. It was a truly touching experience to celebrate with those who have next to nothing, but are blessed with far more peace than most. They named her Nonthando, which means the one who brings Love. This is a reminder that all we take away from this life is love, so we should fill every moment with as much love as we can. What a blessing to spend such a wonderful birthday surrounded by so much love and to share it with her Buckaroo Team.
